Thames Wildlife Superhighway

In 1957 the River Thames was declared biologically dead yet fifty years later it is one of the cleanest metropolitan waterways in the world. In this series Miranda Krestovnikoff travels the full 215 miles of the Thames, from source to sea, to uncover the surprising species that live on historic river.
We'll be taking a journey along the Thames, from its source in Gloucestershire to Southend-on-sea, on a mission to uncover the secret world of plants, insects, fish, wildlife and birds that live in, on and around the riverbanks. Each episode focuses on one section of the Thames, where we'll be discovering the range and diversity of Thames wildlife and exploring the kind of projects underway to monitor and protect it.
